About Sent Ministries

SENT ministries, LMCA's mission's department, has a heart for the lost of our city, our country, our world!

Sent MinistriesIn Romans 10 we read about the inter-connectedness of each basic need in the process of bringing others to the knowledge of Christ. It concludes in verse five in saying: :"How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!" We want to be the messengers of hope that bring the glorious news of Christ to the lost.

This next school year, 2009/2010, will mark the 10th anniversary of SENT Ministries. Ten years of growing and going. Over the years we have taken numerous trips all over the globe in places such as Hong Kong, Romania, Africa, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Mexico, and Canada, and the hurricane affected ares of the United States.

We are always excited for new opportunities and a chance to take students to the global places God prepares. We also understand our mission field begins here, in the Vegas valley. This is where we live it out daily. In Matthew 28 Christ gives us a clear mandate to reach all the world. Our world begins with one step out the front door. This year we have seen even more reaching through student development hours and mission trips within the United States.

SENT Ministries desires that all LMCA students have an opportunity to grow and go in missions. Some of the ways our students are missional is through intentional giving, volunteering, sponsoring students in other countries, community projects, and short-term mission trips.

So come get involved! If you already have a heart for the lost come find out how you can be a part of this ministry. If you are still finding your heart for missions come try it out or call for more information on any of our mission projects.

Student Development Hours - LMCA HS Students

Purpose:
The goal of Student Development Hours (SDH) is to increase our over-all effectiveness in educating the whole student. This can be achieved by weaving into the fabric of LMCA, the training and application needed for a life-long servant hearts. We want our students to know that being a missionary is a 24/7 mandate. We also want them to have the tools and practical experience now so that as adults, that becomes second nature.

Sent MinistriesProgram:
Students will track and submit community service hours as part of their LMCA educational requirements. All students, grades 10-12, will be required to volunteer a minimum set number of hours according to their grade level. Students in the 9th grade will be strongly encouraged to participate in ministry and charitable events but their hours will not be monitored or recorded their first semester of high school due to the many adjustments they are already mastering.

A list of possible volunteering opportunities will be made available in Bible classes. These opportunities will include options from each area in our school: The directors in each area will provide a list of possible volunteer jobs for students. Outside opportunities such as 3rd Week ministries, community service projects, and mission trips will also be offered. Students are welcome to choose their own organizations to volunteer for with prior approval from their Bible teacher. Bible teachers will also serve as facilitators in matching students with an area of service that fits their God-given personality, giftings and passions.

SDH forms will be collected mid-quarter and at the end of each quarter by the Bible teachers. Forms will be given to the mission director to record in Ren Web. Non-compliant students will meet with the high school administrator to discuss corrective measures.

Seniors will be asked to create a senior project as part of their culminating experience at LMCA. Their project may piggyback and/or contribute to an existing community program or may be an original project of the student’s own choosing. Senior projects must be completed by the end of the 3rd quarter and will be showcased as part of their graduation ceremony.

Elementary Ministries

Intentional Monetary Giving (offering)

Elementary students have big hearts. This year 2008/09 their offering has already gone to support a young girl in Rwanda, Africa so she can go to school this year. But it is more than that, our students want to support her every year until she graduates. Their prayers and generosity will no doubt make an eternal difference in little Sonia’s life in Africa.

Look for a new addition to the elementary family as we seek a second child to sponsor in the coming weeks.

After-school Mission Club

Information is coming soon about this new and exciting program. We want to empower our students to share their ideas for ministry and outreach and then make them happen. We also want to nurture their mission hearts. As Christ often pointed out in his ministry here on earth, children are precious and effective examples of his heart for the world.

Sent MinistriesShort-term Mission Trip

Each February middle school students have an opportunity to go on a week-long mission trip. Our usual destination (for the last 8 years) has been Ensenada, Mexico. This year we will be serving stateside in California doing inner-city ministry.

Short-term mission trips are great ways for middle school students to get out of their comfort zone and really serve. Often they sleep on the floor and do work projects they wouldn’t even try at home (without getting some extra allowance). It is a common thing to hear these students say things like, “I really learned that I have a lot and these people don’t have anything but they are so happy” when they get back from the trip.

Sent MinistriesMission Be a Blessing

Each February a team of Middle School students invest their ministry hearts in the community around them. For 4 days they meet together for devotions then they volunteer in LMCA elementary classrooms, do work projects for the maintenance department, or go out into the community to volunteer. This year one way they will volunteer is at Club Christ Henderson, painting and getting ready for the new center to open.

High School Ministries

Intentional Monetary Giving (offering)

During our chapel’s on Friday we take an offering. This year our offering will go to support a local missionary, and past alumni, Kendra Perry. Kendra is the director of the new Henderson Club Christ (www.clubchrist.org). Giving

Pray, give, and go!

Giving or...to provide with, supply with, furnish with, let someone have, hand (over to), offer, proffer, award, grant, bestow upon, donate, contribute, pass on, impart to, transmit, send, deliver, commit, consign, relinquish, devote, dedicate, yield, provide...

Christ said “...it is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35. Our world doesn’t see it that way and our economy certainly sees that mentality equal to insanity. The great secret about giving...it feels AWESOME, it brings BLESSING, and it PLEASES God!

SENT ministries relies completely on donations. It is not a line-item in the LMCA budget, it is a family run business. You are part of that family and the commission God has given to us to preach the gospel to ALL nations. Please consider giving to SENT Ministries this year.

Bank Account Information:
Community Bank of NV

Note: All donations can be made to the business office at LMCA or deposited directly to our account. Donations are tax deductible.
