Athletics
Our purpose is to develop Christian principles and character by being a part of the team. Developing the strongest of work ethics, always striving to do our best, never quitting, and learning life lessons along the way. To compete at the highest level of athletic competition, while never compromising our testimony for the Lord Jesus Christ, while reaching out to the community in a positive way wherever our endeavors take us.

Philosophy of Athletics
The athletic program at LMCA is viewed as an integral part of the curriculum, an extension of the classroom. Life lessons are being put into practice through athletics. Sports allows the student to use his/her God given ability (Matthew 25:14-30) to glorify Him (Colossians 3:17). Because the athletic environment is surrounded by pressure, the athlete is tested, and true character is revealed. If the character revealed is not Christ-like, coaches and administrators attempt to work with the student to bring about approved Christ-like character (II Timothy. 2:15). Our primary emphasis through the athletic program at LMCA is on the development of character.
While athletes strive to do their best (Colossians. 3:23), the evaluation of the standard will not be by wins and losses, or state championships, but approved character. Following is a list of character qualities that the Athletic Department would like to see developed in the students: submission to authority, encouragement of teammates and opponents, quiet spirit, personal reliance on the Lord, servant’s heart, selflessness, kindness, godliness, holiness, thankfulness, peacefulness, mercy, and zealousness for Christ.
Word to the Parents
As the school grows it is challenging to staff coaches for every sport and team desired. This has made it difficult to accommodate interested athletes and add teams. Parents are encouraged to participate through coaching.
It is also very important for parents to be supportive of the coaching staff at LMCA. The school has provided the best coaching possible for the students. They are qualified people, dedicated to helping students become the best that they can become and guiding them toward maturity in Christ. The coach will make his/her decision on who completes through much observation and evaluation in practice and games.
Parents are urged to avoid “coaching” from the stands or sidelines. This often interferes with rehearsed instruction and practiced plays. This creates confusion and tension for the athlete and detracts from his/her performance. Encourage athletes in a positive way and leave the coaching to the coaches.
Good sportsmanship requires that fans support their teams in a positive manner, and also show respect and appreciation for our opponents and their skills. It also demands that fans show respect to the officials. No one has the right or privilege to openly question any game official. Direct comments or concerns to the Athletic Director in person or in writing.
Anyone who observes an individual from LMCA engaging in unsportsmanlike-like behavior should approach the person in a loving way and remind them that their support should be positive. LMCA desires to have a reputation of a caring loving community that encourages their teams, opponents, and officials in a positive way. Fans are to avoid heckling game officials or coaches.
Fan Behavior
Fans are as much a part of the athletic program as the athletes. It is the desire of LMCA to leave a positive witness wherever the teams journey. The character qualities desired for athletes are also desired for fans. We hope the athletic experience here at LMCA is enjoyable for all. Please feel free to contact the Athletic Director, or one of the coaches with questions or concerns.
Please note:
Fees are charged for entrance to away games
Artificial noisemakers are not permitted under NIAA guidelines
Post season NIAA-sponsored games charge entry fees to ALL spectators. Please direct special concerns or questions related to this policy to the athletic department.
