LMCA History

In October 1989, a group of concerned parents organized Paradise Christian Academy, Henderson Campus as a branch of Paradise Christian Academy, Las Vegas under the sponsorship of Paradise Baptist Bible Church. The new ministry was started using Abeka video school and it served kindergarten through twelfth grade. It began with four staff members and twenty- four students. The founders were committed to providing a quality Christian educational alternative for Henderson families.

Each year saw an increase of students and the school quickly outgrew the classrooms borrowed from the Henderson Presbyterian Church. The new school quickly became known as a “community” school as it continued to borrow land and facilities for growth and many important events. With a twofold approach to ministry - evangelistic and discipleship - and solid, traditional education, the academy continued to serve the needs of families and area churches.

In 1995, the school incorporated independently and changed the name to Lake Mead Christian Academy to more closely identify with Henderson. Thanks to the efforts of visionary leaders and committed praying parents, land was acquired in 1995, through a donation by Basic Land Management Inc. (now the Land-well Company). LMCA moved into a permanent home in October 1998, on Lake Mead Parkway. At this location the school has expanded to a whole family ministry, through its affiliation with the Church at Lake Mead (C@LM) in January 2004.

The ministry experienced the birth of its newest branch, Lil‘ Eagles Early Education Academy, in September 2006. The new building added approximately 18,000 square feet, including nine academic and child care rooms for Lil’ Eagles and seven academic rooms for high school, and the LMCafe, a coffee shop for community building which provides a place to refresh, renew, and reconnect. Efforts are also underway for a secondary Henderson campus at another location. We covet your prayers for wisdom and direction in current and future ministry.

LMCA continues to grow. The founding administrator maintains a deep sense of commitment to academic excellence and spiritual growth for both students and families. The next years promise to be ones of promise and blessing as opportunities continue for spiritual impact into the Las Vegas Valley, through out the United States and our world.
